Beauty Does Rise from Ashes!

Before the change this month to the new contributor site this blog was just about me and my story & I decided I'm long over due for an update. But before I get into that I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed a post this month. And we have many new contributors joining us in October! It is not an easy thing to write and share about your life and it is even more difficult to share about painful and challenging experiences. But each of these ladies bravely shared and I know their stories have blessed and encouraged many! These stories, this site and what God is doing here reminds me so much of this verse in Genesis when Joseph is talking to his brothers who had once sold him into slavery.

"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." Genesis 50:20

The enemy wants nothing more than to have pain in your life destroy you. But thankfully our God is bigger and He can bring good out of any situation or hardship. This site is proof that beauty does rise from ashes!

And beauty is rising up in my life too. To catch you up on my story:

I have had severe chronic pain for 18 years (since I was around 11yrs old).

This past winter was a particularly brutal season of suffering

I decided and felt led at that time to seek God like never before and begin praying for total healing of my fibromyalgia.

While praying, I decided to step out in faith and go off all of my fibro medication. And today I celebrate 5 months off that medication!

While praying and seeking God's will for my life, I sensed I  was supposed to quit my primary job (as a nanny). Which of course made no sense financially but if I know anything I know it's nothing but foolishness to not obey God. So I stepped out in faith, quit my job and started to see God provide for me in amazing ways!

So I declared this past summer the summer of fun! It lived up to it's name.

Here I am with my mom, my brother & my sister at my sister's 1920's themed party!

I got to work less, relax more, focus on my health and pray about my future. I was introduced to natural products called Young Living Essential Oils. I have been using these oils along with nutritional drinks and supplements for several months and I am amazed. I don't think it's any coincidence that I finally started to pray for healing and these products were brought into my life. In 18 years of pain I have tried every medical intervention you could imagine from medicine to physical therapy to acupuncture to vitamins to elimination diets and all with no success and losing thousands of dollars I can't afford to lose. I was skeptical to try Young Living but am SO grateful I did. Not only are these products able to relieve my pain better than any medication ever has but I am actually experiencing slightly less pain to begin with and am hopeful that I will continue to experience even more healing.

I've also made some much needed changes to work. Even though not working for a little while over the summer was great, I obviously couldn't keep that up for long financially. So I've made the switch to now mostly working from home as a virtual assistant for several different Christian ministries/speakers. Its been great for my health. I now spend almost everyday working from home which allows me to take breaks whenever I need to and work around my good and not so good pain days. I also have dear friends who moved back to this country and I'm helping them out with their kids a few afternoons a week. It's a good balance between working at home but still not being stuck in the house all day. I am so much happier in this new role and know that it has also been a blessing to my health.

As I look ahead to fall and winter I am continuing to pray for healing and would love your prayers too! Cold weather is the biggest thing that sets my pain off and I know being off my medicine will be quite a test for me this year. But I am hopeful and grateful seeing all the prayers God has already answered in my life over this year. He is up to something and I trust His plan. I pray He continues to use this site to encourage others, glorify Himself and show to the world that God DOES make beauty rise from ashes!
